2015 Car/Truck of the Year Announced

The awards for the 2015 North American Car/Truck of the Year were announced today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

From a field of three finalists in both categories the winners are:

We were a bit surprised at the VW Golf being selected. With the new Ford Mustang and F-150 both coming out this model year we were expecting Ford to sweep the awards. The VW Golf line offers a variety of platforms between the Golf, Golf GTI, and the Golf R which offers the consumer a wide range of engine, performance, utility, and economy.

The Ford F-150 has been a real class changing vehicle with it's aluminum frame and range of ecoboost and naturally aspirated engines. The F-150 and F-series in general are Ford's bread and butter so they're not going to make changes like this lightly. Time will tell whether or not it will really pay off though.
